Toy blocks are far from old-fashioned. While they have been a traditional toy for many generations, blocks offer so many benefits that they continue to top wish lists for parents and children alike.

Babies and toddlers often enjoy soft blocks that are easily grasped and land more gently when they tumble. In addition, these stuffed blocks can be mouthed and gnawed without encountering corners and hard edges. However, solid wooden blocks are the most durable and offer years of entertainment. Even infants enjoy touching and holding wooden toys. From about 15 months, many toddlers like small cube-shaped blocks that can be stacked and sorted. Knocking down a tower can be the most fun - try rolling a soft ball for some basic bowling. At this age, toys still need to pass the inedibility test - so make sure you choose blocks that are too large to swallow, with smooth surfaces and non-toxic paint.

Tempur-Pedic Mattress Pad

Sleeping is one of the "must have" items in our life. How well we can maximize the quality of our sleep translate into more time for all the other interesting things there are to do in our world today be it more time with your family, for work, hobbies, time to experience new things.

While doing my research for the "best" mattress (that has not concluded at this time), I came across the Tempur-Pedic Mattress Pad. What a great way to test out a much hyped bedding system for a relatively "small" investment?! This Swedish mattress material generically called memory foam came out of NASA's search to reduce g-forces experienced by the astronauts. There are now several other USA memory form mattress available on line such as  www.absolutecomfortonsale.com, www.selectfoam.com. Various brand foam mattresses are also available on Amazon.com, Overstock.com, Macys.com, Costco.com, walmart.com.

The mattress pad comes in 2 thickness: 1 inch and 3 inches. Brookstone.com only carries the 1-inch thick mattress pad (starts at USD299) and Tempurpedic has the 3-inch thickness on their website (starts at USD532).


I would recommend the 1 inch mattress pad for those that are currently already pretty happy with their mattress performance but are just looking for a little "up-grade". The 3-inch mattress pad I think would be more suitable for those that like to sleep on the floor occasionally or use it for guest sleeping instead of having to have space for a sleeper sofa or futton.
